NOW HEAR THIS ... What is this all about?

Let's face it - if you are reading this then you are probably not a  spring chicken. A few of you are even older than I am. We have been to a lot of different places, seen a lot of sights and done a lot of things. We've got a lot of memories. Some of us witnessed history as it was happening, with our own eyes. I think we need to share all of that before we die, for the entertainment of other old geezers, the education of younger folks, and just for the heck of it. Your story does not have to be about the Vietnam War. It can be about anything that you believe a Vietnam War veteran or someone from that time period would be interested in and appreciate.

First - you will need to pick a handle that you want to be identified with. Your handle can be anything - as long as it is unique. Use that same  handle for all of the stories you submit  - assuming that you submit more than one - and most of us are full of them. My handle is Old Senior Chief 1946 - not very imaginative, but it will serve the purpose. If you want to include your real name and/or e-mail address in the meat of the story, it is your option. But beware of spammers!

Please - give your story a title. I will do very little editing. It is your story and you can tell it your way - warts and all. I won't spend time with correcting typo's etc. I will do some formatting to make it  look right on the web but except for that, it will be posted "as is".

So - fire away when ready! I will get it posted as soon as I can get around to it. Keep in mind that I am also an old geezer - I have those doctors appointments and visits to the pharmacy to worry about.

If I get comments back on it, I will manually post them as threads under the original story. Just send me an e-mail with your handle and reply comments. I will try to remember to notify the story's originator, with your contact information.

I am doing this to try to prevent spammers from using this blog as a place to gather new email addresses.

For some of us it is easier to write about things than it is to talk about it. That is the way it is with me. I write some of this stuff just to pass the time and clear my head. It gives me an outlet. Even though few people will read it, it makes me feel better.

Have fun with it and we will see how it goes.
